2016 in Highlights

My Highlights of 2016

All the weddings I am privileged enough to get to document are special to me and usually my blog posts are about showing a complete story in photos. However once a year I get to indulge myself a little and put together a collection of my personal favourites from the year. It doesn’t tell a story, has no method behind the arrangement of the photos and certainly is not an exhaustive list of my favourite shots (that post would be an epic exercise in scrolling down with the mouse, so I force myself to pick and choose!).

Where to start? To give this post a little context it’s probably a good idea to mention some of the wonderful wedding venues I got to shoot at over the past year. I’m still always surprised at the variety of venues on my doorstep. Norfolk and Essex in particular have an incredibly diverse array of wedding venues ranging from minimalist natural outdoor venues with yurts and teepees, to grand stately homes, such as the stunning Kimberly Hall, not to mention the plethora of beautiful barns that are tucked away amongst the rolling fields of the surrounding countryside. On more than one occasion this year I got to visit the beautiful White Dove Barn on the Marsh Farm estate, which is always a pleasure and I relish the challenge of finding new and interesting ways to use the surroundings and buildings. Southwood Hall was a new venue to me this year but I am delighted that I have more bookings to return there in 2017 as it is a great place with some stunning backdrops. I feel like I spent most of my time in Norfolk this year, which is no bad thing as it’s not lacking in great wedding venues. But thinking back I also had a few lovely weddings in Suffolk and Essex, such as Lucy and Ian at Wherstead Park, Mike and Liza at Newland Hall, shortly followed by Nicki and Clare at Houchins in Essex. All great places and stunning venues and if the full blog posts are not yet up they will follow shortly when I catch up!

2016 was great, now roll on the new season in 2017. But for now, enjoy some of my choice picks from a fantastic year of weddings!
