Kesgrave Hall Wedding

Asha and Jamie’s Kesgrave Hall Wedding was a first for me at this quirky and purpose built venue. Attached to the main hotel building is the unique ‘Hanger’ building which has been purpose built with weddings and functions in mind. During the second world was Kesgrave Hall was used by both RAF pilots and a squadron from the USA, who were involved in aerial operations over Europe. As a nod to it’s heritage the function suite acquired the name ‘the hanger’.

The main hotel is a grade II listed building and has been sympathetically restored; the hanger is a modern space with one of the most impressive lighting set ups you’re every likely to see. Not much natural light can be found inside, but that is more than made up for by an impressive square lighting rig suspended from the ceiling, providing lighting of all colours an at all angles. Sunk into the ceiling itself are hundreds of tiny spotlights giving the effect of a starry sky with which to party the night away under. The overall effect is quite something to behold!

Asha and Jamie wanted a colourful wedding and they certainly achieved that in abundance incorporating bold pinks throughout the day. With both bride and groom staying at the hotel the night before it was a relaxed start to the day and that feeling continued throughout as the couple were treated to some lovely afternoon sun, allowing them to get outside for champagne and a few photos in the grounds of the hotel.

The couple expressed a desire to have a photo booth at their wedding, but didn’t want to the standard boots style machine set up in the corner and so I obliged and set up a simple back drop and a camera and flash set up with the couple providing all their own props. It was a fun end to proceedings for me and some of the photos made me chuckle! I now offer this photo booth set up as an addition to a full day package; having experienced an actual photo booth at a friend’s wedding I have to say I much prefer the simplicity of the back drop and camera with flash set up. Having a photographer pressing the button means the photos are much more organic and the results tend to be a whole lot funnier!

Here are a few highlights from the day including some of the photo booth!
